As technology continues to improve, one area that seems to get better every day is computers. New computers are hitting the market on a regular basis. From desktops to laptops and even netbooks, average consumers can find a computer to fit their needs and budget. Looking at the history of computers will show you just how far technology has come.
Computers were once massive. There is no other way to put it. A single computer took up an entire room. Computers were not for the average households, but strictly for scientists and government officials and were used accordingly. As time went by, computers began to shrink in size. They made their way into the business world and, eventually, neighborhood homes. People quickly realized how much easier life could be with a computer.
Today, computers are everywhere and they are getting smaller and smaller. Remarkably, there are smart phones that have almost every capability of a regular computer. Laptops are much more common than they used to be. Once large and heavy, laptops are now thinner, sleeker, and lighter. Smaller versions of laptops are netbooks. Although designed for basic web surfing, today’s netbooks are improving their technology continuously. The average netbook can do everything an expensive laptop can do, only on a smaller screen and for a lower price.
Time marches on and technology marches with it. Touch screen monitors are rising in popularity, making ease of access that much better. Speech-to-text software is constantly improving too, making it possible to type text without ever touching a keyboard. The future of computers, laptops, and netbooks looks very promising. Although it is impossible to predict what will come over the next few decades, it is almost certain that computers will be smaller, faster, and easier to use. Technology has brought many welcome changes into the world and has many more to come.
